In Loreto, SLEAM continues its training and certification activities in the technical-specialized field of aeronautical English
SLEAM, following an agreement in 2011 between the Air Force and the National Agency for Civil Aviation (ENAC), is in fact a Center of Aviation English Testing, According to the ICAO standard (International Civil Aviation Organization – Doc. 9835/AN.453).
The TAE allows the verification of the level of knowledge of aeronautical English for air traffic control personnel, focusing on 6 areas of linguistic competence (structure, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, interaction, pronunciation) for the final assignment of a value between levels 1 and 6. The competencies subject to evaluation include standard phrasing and handling of flight situations (role play).
Aviation English, taught and assessed at SLEAM, represents the expression of the quality of the many years of experience gained in the field of basic linguistics and the related ability to support, for a long time, specialized activities of an applied nature in the aeronautical field (TAE and MOE – Military Operational English for Forward Air Controllers).
The specialist activity carried out by SLEAM thus contributes strategically every day to the development and maintenance of that linguistic competence fundamental for air navigation personnel, flight controllers and aeronautical maintenance personnel, and which is intended to increase flight safety.
