With the support provided by the 2nd Wing, Dutch Air Force personnel trained in flying in the mountainous environment of Friuli.
The operations, conducted with the support of the 2nd Wing's personnel and facilities, enabled both the initial training of young Dutch pilots at the end of their formation process and their assignment to operational units, as well as the maintenance of operational capabilities for the more experienced colleagues.
In total, approximately 50 sorties and over 100 flight hours were planned and conducted, operating over the Alpine arc between Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige.
Significant also are the training returns for the men and women of the 2nd Wing, who had the opportunity to practice supporting aircraft not in the Italian Air Force's inventory but used within NATO, as well as engaging with personnel of different languages and procedures that fall outside their daily experience.
Particular attention has been paid, right from the planning stages of the activity, to minimising the impact on the territory and local population, by implementing specific limitations, both in terms of flight altitudes and the number of assets engaged simultaneously.
The activity, held in Rivolto for the third consecutive year, is part of a wider context of international defence cooperation that involves, in a multilateral way, NATO countries and those with whom there are established links through institutional cooperation agreements.
