Some classes of the “Carducci” Primary School visited the Brindisi Department to learn about the daily work of the Air Force personnel. After the welcoming words by the Commander of the detachment, Colonel Giambattista Degiuli, the students, accompanied by their teachers, closely observed the activities carried out by the flight controllers, the meteorological personnel, the falconer responsible for airport security, and the humanitarian staff of the World Food Programme, visiting the control tower, the radar room, the meteorological station, the raptor aviaries, and the warehouses of the World Food Programme.
Subsequently, the young guests enthusiastically watched the screening of some videos produced by the Air Force General Staff.
During the visits, the students were also hosted by the staff of the 84th Combat Search and Rescue Center (CSAR), belonging to the 15th Stormo of Cervia (Ravenna), which, through the HH-3F helicopters, guarantees 24/7 search and rescue for the flight crews and maritime assets in difficulty, contributing to public utility activities such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of seriously ill people in danger of life, the rescue of severely traumatized people and the populations affected by natural disasters.
