The President of the Colleferro Section, General Aldo Nanni, who served actively in the 72nd Air Wing, leads the Association.
The Commander of the Department, Colonel Elio Volpari, welcomed the guests in the briefing room of the 208th Flight Wing for an informative briefing on the activities of the Stormo. The exchange of Crests, which gave the sense of continuity between the personnel serving at the Stormo and the “ex” members of the Department, was followed by the mutual handing over of commemorative items between the A.A.A. of Colleferro and the A.A.A. of Frosinone, in testimony of the bond between the two sections. The visit continued at the 208th Flight Wing, the Technical Operational Services Group, where the guests had the opportunity to attend a briefing on meteorology and the Aircraft Efficiency Group, and concluded with lunch at the Officers’ Club. The 72nd Stormo has the institutional task of training helicopter pilots not only of the Aeronautica Militare but also of the other Armed Forces and the Armed Bodies of the State. Among the frequenters of the Stormo are also students from foreign Armed Forces. Currently, the Italian Army cadets attending the B.M.P.E. Course are attending the flight training course at the Stormo; these cadets are currently carrying out their first solo missions following the first fundamental barrier test of their training process.
