The Commander of the 1st Air Region, Air Force General Mario Renzo Ottone, arrived in Cameri on April 15 to visit the Final Assembly and Check Out (F.A.C.O.) of the F35/Joint Strike Fighter (J.S.F.) aircraft. Upon his arrival, General Ottone was received by the Chief of the Center, Inspector General Lucio Bianchi.
General Ottone was therefore accompanied to the shipyard area “Final Assembly and Check Out”(F.A.C.O.) intended for the assembly of the F35/Joint Strike Fighter (J.S.F.) aircraft. After attending a briefing regarding the reality of the Ce.Po.V.A. and the F.A.C.O. project, the same General visited the shipyard where he was able to observe the progress of the works and the activities carried out. At the end of the visit, General Ottone, in signing the honor roll, wished to compliment General Bianchi for the commitment and dedication offered to the Armed Forces by the men and women currently involved in the JSF project. The Multifunctional Aircraft Assembly Center (Ce.Po.V.A.) was established on the airfield in Cameri on July 23, 2012 and is subordinate to the 2nd Division of the A.M. Logistics Command.
The 1st Aircraft Maintenance Department, the Cameri Airport Command, and the Initial Training Unit (N.I.F.) for the Joint Strike Fighter (J.S.F.) F-35 programme depend on the Ce.Po.V.A.
The Ce.Po.V.A., with its dependent bodies, represents the main engineering-maintenance and logistics hub for the Italian Air Force for high-performance “fast jet” aircraft.
