From 28 to 30 May, analysts and operators gathered at CIGA to examine the TTPs of the ISR space operations for exploitation, analysis, and dissemination (in technical jargon PED: Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination) of the image data.

The meeting was organized by the 1st and 2nd Group of Operational Imagery Analysis (GrAIO) and was attended by officers, non-commissioned officers and specialists from the Air Operations Command (COA), the 32nd Wing and the U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFRICA).

Through the sharing of knowledge and experiences, this initiative has made it possible to improve existing common procedures, with the aim of further enhancing their effectiveness and efficiency in all operational contexts: national, NATO and coalition.

All of this falls within the functions of standardization of ISR processes assigned to the GrAIO, in accordance with the policy of the Air Force General Staff as well as the plans and directives of the Air Force Command – 1.a These efforts allow the Air Force to operate as a protagonist in actions aimed at ensuring the Defense and the country adequate levels of informational superiority, in a particularly delicate international context.

The CIGA is based at the Military Airport “Mario de Bernardi” in Pratica di Mare, Pomezia (Rome).

It depends on 9a BA ISTAR-EW of the Air Force Command – 1a Regional Air District.

It is the State Mapping Agency specialized in the production of aerial mapping. It is the operational department of the Air Force responsible for the analysis of image and geospatial data for ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) purposes, for mapping, airspace, information and aeronautical procedures. Its constant activity is developed, both in Italy and abroad, in military operations and in support of the public good, in disasters and in institutional contexts.

Many of the cartographic and air navigation aid products published by CIGA in hard copy and digital formats are also available for sale to the public.
