Urgent medical transport from Sardinia to Piedmont for a child patient: the 31st Wing was activated with the G650 aircraft.

The little patient, in imminent danger, was transported by aircraft G650 of the 31st Wing from Alghero airport to Turin airport, where he was able to receive the necessary specialist care.
The operation was triggered by the request of Sassari Prefecture, immediately received by the Summit Situation Room of Air Squadron Command of Milan, which activated the 31st Wing, a Unit that has recently upgraded its fleet with modern G650 aircraft. As with all state transport, the flight was authorised by Prime Minister's Office, who manages and coordinates this type of activity.
Once at Alghero airport, the crew boarded the newborn, who had previously been hospitalised at the’University Hospital of Sassari. The little one, accompanied by her mother and a’team specialist medical, she travelled to a heated incubator, guaranteeing maximum safety and stability during air transport. Departing around 12:30 PM, the aircraft landed in the Piedmontese capital after just over an hour of flight. From there, an ambulance quickly took the young patient to.’Maria Vittoria Hospital of Turin. With the mission complete, the G650 returned to the Ciampino base to resume its operational readiness.
These operations are an integral part of the Italian Air Force's work, whose flight units are ready to take off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With highly specialised equipment and crews, they can operate even in complex weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport of not only people in imminent danger of losing their lives, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances. Every year, hundreds of flying hours are dedicated to these vital missions, carried out by aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, of 14th Practice Wing of Pratica di Mare, of 46th Air Brigade of Pisa from the helicopters of the 15th Air Wing of Cervia.
