The crew of an Air Force G650 aircraft transported an organ and a medical team from Venice civil airport to Palermo airport.
The first operational flight of the new G650 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force concluded this afternoon.
In particular, the G650 crew transported an organ and a specialised medical team from Venice Civil Airport to Palermo Airport.
The request for intervention was received from the Prefecture of Padua by the Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Command of the Air Squad Command / 1st Air Region of Milan, which immediately activated the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the Units that provides operational readiness for this type of mission and which has recently modernised its fleet with the new G650 aircraft.
Today's flight, as is customary for this type of activity, was authorised by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages and coordinates the state aircraft fleet.
The Italian Air Force's flying units are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions. They ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of death, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances.
Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of operation by aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and by helicopters from the 15th Wing of Cervia.
