The Italian staff on duty at The GCAP International Government Organisation (G.I.G.O.) celebrated Republic Day at the HQ in Reading (UK).
The Italian delegation wanted to share the spirit of the celebration with their colleagues from the other two partner nations, the United Kingdom and Japan.
The National Representative, Air Force Lieutenant General Giandomenico Taricco, in his very brief introductory speech, recalled the roots of the celebration and emphasised how significant the occasion in question is for the Nation and for the entire Italian people.
Gen. Taricco also wished to highlight the reasons behind the choice of the holiday, recalling how it was precisely on June 2nd and 3rd of 1946 the institutional referendum was held, with which Italians were called to Urn to decide which Form of state (monarchy o Republicto give to the country. The result that followed opened the doors to the Republic.
Colleagues from the UK and Japan expressed their approval for the event, sharing the importance of celebrating such occasions and of its sharing within the team that the G.I.G.O. staff constitutes.
The GCAP International Government Organization (GIGO) represents the governmental entity responsible for managing the GCAP program and was established on 14 December 2024 following the signing of the treaty between the Ministers of Defence of Italy (Guido Crosetto), the UK (Grant Shapps), and Japan (Minoru Kihara).
