An important collaboration between the Taranto department and the Municipal Authority and the Provincial WWF Section. On Monday 19th February, the Air Force Volunteer School (SVTAM) hosted a delegation of tourism operators from around the world. The activity took place in collaboration with the council department for “Economic Productive Development - Territorial Marketing” of the Municipality of Taranto and with the Provincial WWF Section, which collaborates with the SVTAM for the protection of the territory and the monitoring of the coastline on which the school is located. The day, organised by the Municipality of Taranto for promotional purposes, involved a guided tour of the city's most significant sites. Among these, the tour included a visit to the WWF's Mar Piccolo Ecomuseum, a true open-air museum ideally located within some particularly beautiful natural areas, which also include part of the SVTAM. On this occasion, the school opened its doors to showcase places normally little known to the public, such as the monumental “Palazzo Brasini”, which until a few years ago was the command headquarters, a historical and cultural heritage that the Air Force guards with great care and attention. The initiative highlighted the importance of creating synergies between the Armed Forces, local institutions, and the third sector in order to promote the territory's excellences and give visibility to the “country system” on an international level.
The Air Force Volunteer School is the organisation responsible for the military and moral training of troop personnel destined for service in the Air Force, as well as their specific professional instruction. Furthermore, the department coordinates and oversees activities relating to the selection of candidates for the enrolment of Permanent Fixed-Term Volunteers from civilian life who enter the Armed Force via a public competition held at the School's facilities.
