The event was chaired by Colonel Tarantino, Commander of the Airspace Control Training Department. On Wednesday 12th September, at the Aula Magna of the Airspace Control Training Department (RACSA) in Pratica di Mare (Rome), the handover ceremony for the Command of the Air Traffic Operational Training Group (GAO/TA) took place between Lt Col Pietro M. and Lt Col Fabrizio S.
The event, chaired by Colonel Dario Tarantino, Commander of the RACSA, was attended by personnel serving in the Department, the families of the outgoing and incoming Group Commanders, and military and civilian guests. The incoming Commander, in his welcoming speech, wished to express his gratitude to the Group's personnel for the work carried out and for the enormous sacrifices made by all his collaborators during the three years of command.
The outgoing Commander also thanked the personnel for the constant support provided, commending them for the important results achieved and wished his successor the very best for the prestigious and delicate role. Lt Col Fabrizio S., in thanking Colonel Tarantino for the trust placed in him, stated that he intends to carry out his future work with commitment and dedication, respecting his colleagues, fostering human relations, paying attention to individual skills and valuing personal aptitudes, so that each person feels fully integrated into the group, respected and highly motivated.
Colonel Tarantino finally expressed his full praise to the outgoing Commander, highlighting how the results achieved by the Air Traffic Training Group would not have been possible without the passionate, intelligent, and attentive leadership of its Commander. He was distinguished for standardising the training activities conducted for the Air Traffic and Meteorology sector, ensuring that the topics taught were always up-to-date and in line with recent international and national directives. The Commander of RACSA also wished to emphasise that T.Col Pietro M. had not limited himself to the Group's activities alone. Instead, thanks to his professionalism and knowledge, he had made himself available for the completion of various cross-departmental projects, drawing on his considerable experience gained at C.I.G.A.
Turning then to the incoming Commander, Colonel Tarantino said he was certain that his undisputed qualities, combined with the considerable experience gained over all these years at RACSA, first as an instructor on air traffic courses and then as Head of Command Office, would enable him to best perform the functions of Commander of the Air Traffic Operational Training Group.
The Air Traffic Operational Training Group of the R.A.C.S.A. is the operational unit of the Department tasked with providing technical and professional training for Air Force personnel destined to provide Air Traffic and Meteorology Services to military and civilian users within the airspace under the jurisdiction of the Air Force, as well as personnel from other Armed Forces and foreign military personnel employed in the aforementioned services.
The same also provides, with its own instructor, teaching support for the subjects “Air Traffic” and “Meteorology” to other Armed Forces training institutes, State Armed Corps and the Civil Protection Department.
