The General Manager, Brig. Gen. Michael Hain of the NAPMA (Nato Awacs Programme Management Agency) has awarded Lt. Col. Alessandro Pace, an Officer of the Supply Corps serving in the 4th Department of the Air Force Staff, the prestigious NATO Meritorious Service Medal, granted by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO’s highest honour was established in 2003 to recognise, following a lengthy and meticulous selection process assessing the performance of all military and civilian personnel within the Atlantic Alliance (approximately 9,200 military and civilian staff), those who had distinguished themselves exceptionally through service merits that demonstrated outstanding personal ability and leadership. On average, only 1% of the personnel assessed each year receive this prestigious award from the Secretary-General.
The medal presentation took place at the NAPMA Agency headquarters in Brunssum (NLD) during the NAPMO Policy & Finance Committee meeting (of which the decorated officer is Chairman).
During the ceremony, Gen. Hain remarked on the reasons for presenting this award, highlighting how the Officer had “...supported the highest traditions of the Alliance by demonstrating extraordinary leadership and making an exceptional contribution...”
The honour received is part of a long series of acknowledgements of appreciation from all the Atlantic Alliance allies, for the profitable integration of the Italian Armed Forces into the international community.
