On 29 October 2018, Colonel Maurizio D’Andrea, assigned to the CSPG (Coalition Strategy and Plans Group) in the J5 Division of USCENTCOM (Tampa, FL), received the prestigious US honour. Joint Service Commendation Medal. Colonel D'Andrea, within the CSPG, served as the responsible officer for the part Assessment and Chief of Staff for Operation Inherent Resolve Planning in the fight against Daesh. In this role, the officer particularly distinguished himself through his excellent work in a very complex international context, where he effectively coordinated all CSPG activities with the various USCENTCOM Divisions and promoted significant changes in the dynamics relating to the Assessment and Planning processes. In recognition of the exceptional expertise and excellent skills demonstrated, Colonel D'Andrea was awarded by the United States Secretary of Defense the Joint Service Commendation Medal. This is the first time such recognition has been awarded to an officer of CSPG of USCENTCOM.
