Air Force Commander Giovanni Fantuzzi, Commander of the Air Force Logistic Command, visits Amendola base. On Tuesday, 23 January, the Air Force Logistic Commander, Air Force Commander Giovanni Fantuzzi, accompanied by a delegation of Division/Service Heads from the same High Command, visited the 32nd Wing at Amendola. He was welcomed by the Commander of the Combat Forces from Milan, Air Force Division Commander Silvano Frigerio, and the Commander of the 32nd Wing at Amendola, Colonel Davide Marzinotto. During the presentation briefing, the Wing's “Vision” and “Mission” were outlined to the Logistic Commander, with particular reference to logistic-operational activities. Ample space was dedicated to describing the infrastructure development undertaken for the acquisition of the J.S.F. (Joint Strike Fighter), a new aircraft in service with the Air Force. This was an occasion for discussion on ongoing activities relating to future medium-to-long-term programmes, specifically the presumed hosting of the 4th T.L.P. (Tactical Leadership Programme) Course at Amendola base. This was followed by a visit to the logistic-operational areas of the Wing, with particular attention to the J.S.F. ’citadel“, home of the 13th Flight Group, built according to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency criteria. The visit continued to the facilities of the 28th Flight Group, home to the remotely piloted aircraft used both nationally and in Operations outside national borders. The Logistic Commander finally signed the visitor's book, thanking Colonel Marzinotto for the hospitality received and congratulating him on the high professionalism shown by the personnel of the 32nd Wing.
The visit by the Air Force Logistic Commander and the Chief Generals of the Logistic Command’s Divisions and Services expresses and seals the synergies between the activities of the Logistic Command and the Air Squad Command, representing an indispensable interconnection between High Commands for the realisation of projects of strategic importance, both operationally and environmentally. This complex activity translates into cooperation characterised by broad-spectrum interoperability, in accordance with the “Vision” and “Mission” of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, to which the Air Force Logistic Command and the Air Squad Command refer, through their institutional activities, for the benefit of the Armed Force and the entire country.
The Tactical Leadership Programme is an organisation founded on the basis of a “Memorandum of Understanding” (M.O.U.) signed by 10 Nations (Italy, Spain, United States, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Germany and Denmark). Its mission is to improve the effectiveness of air operations conducted by Allied Forces by promoting the development of assertive leadership skills and the capabilities for analysis, planning, execution and evaluation of “combined” air activities required of a “Mission Commander”, and to collaborate actively with NATO on the basis of a “Letter of Agreement” signed by the two Organisations. Italy, which joined the TLP as a signatory Nation in January 1996, represents the first nation in terms of economic investment. The 32nd Wing, the first Unit in Europe to acquire J.S.F. aircraft, carries out operational, training and technical activities for Predator remotely piloted aircraft, in order to acquire and maintain the capability to conduct national and coalition ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) operations. Furthermore, with MB-339 aircraft, it completes the training of RPA pilots on traditionally piloted aircraft.
