The little boy was transported to Rome aboard a Falcon 900 from the 31st Air Wing. On the morning of Wednesday, July 24, a one-month-old baby, in imminent danger of life, was transported with utmost urgency from Cagliari to Ciampino aboard a Falcon 900 from the 31st Air Wing of the Italian Air Force. The little boy was placed on board the aircraft in a thermal cradle, accompanied by his mother and under the constant supervision of a specialized medical team. Upon landing in Ciampino, around 12:00, after an hour of flight, the baby was immediately transferred by ambulance to the “Bambino Gesù” hospital in Rome. The request for transport came from the Prefectural Office of Cagliari to the Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the operational room of the Air Force that among its other functions also has the responsibility of arranging and managing this type of mission in favor of the population. To carry out the mission, the Situation Room ordered the urgent takeoff of a Falcon 900, one of the Air Force aircraft ready 24 hours a day for this type of service. The aircraft took off from Ciampino towards Cagliari, from where it then took off, once the small patient was on board, around 10:45 a.m.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force makes available means and crews ready to take off at any time to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of hours of flight are carried out every year by the aircraft of the 31st Flight of Ciampino, the 14th Flight of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Flight of Rome for this type of intervention.aPisa Air Brigade.
