Colonel Gentilucci succeeds Colonel D’Annibale in the leadership of the flagship branch of military air traffic control.
On Tuesday, September 10, in the helicopter hangar of the 31st Wing, The ceremony of succession took place between Colonel Alessandro D’Annibale, outgoing Commander, and the Colonel Federico Gentilucci, Incoming Commander.
The ceremony, presided over by Commander of the Airspace Control Brigade (BCA), Brigadier General Glauco Luigi Mora, The event took place in the presence of numerous civil and military authorities, including the Mayor of the city of Ciampino, Lawyer Emanuela Colella, the flag of the municipality of Ciampino, the Combatant and Armed Forces Associations, and a large delegation of managers from ENAC (National Civil Aviation Authority) and ENAV S.p.A. (National Flight Support Authority).
In his farewell speech, the Colonel D’Annibale, After three years at the helm of the Coordination and Control Services, He recounted the most significant moments of his command, from the efforts made during the difficult historical period of the COVID pandemic crisis, to the numerous activities supporting large events such as, among others, the aerial display held at the Pratica di Mare airport last year, in celebration of the Centenary of the Armed Forces. Then, referring to the personnel of the Department, he wanted to thank them: “All this has been made possible thanks to you. I wish you a period of serenity and professional momentum from the depths of my heart, always keeping the excellence of Military Air Traffic high.”.
It Colonel Gentilucci, Subsequent to this, Subalterno received the witness from the past with honor and gratitude, thanking the Supreme Commands of the Armed Forces for the trust placed in him: “Arriving at the Command is an honor and this assignment, in particular, makes me very proud. Controlling Air Traffic has always, for me, been a professional and friendly voice on the other side of the microphone, able to always support my needs on board the aircraft during all the missions carried out for the skies of Italy and the world, at the service of the country. From now on, I will have the honor of getting close to the reality underlying this precious service, provided every day, at all times, to our aircraft and not only”.
It General Moore, Taking the floor, he thanked Colonel D’Annibale for the commitment shown during his tenure, highlighting the numerous and important milestones achieved:“The challenges you have faced have not been few. In particular, the new strategic project of ENAV S.p.A., aimed at reorganizing the new ATM model through the creation of two Area Control Centers in Rome and Milan, has posed, and will continue to pose, new challenges. All this is embedded in a daily routine characterized by constant activity; just think that the SCC System manages approximately two hundred thousand air movements per year and supports events of great importance, as happened during the Air Event of the Centenary of the Armed Forces and the great G7 event.”. The incoming Commander then offered his best wishes for a period of successful and rewarding command, emphasizing that the Armed Forces had recognized in Col. Gentilucci the moral qualities and the necessary skills, entrusting him with a great responsibility.
Finally, the BCA Commander addressed all the staff of the Services Coordination and Control Department expressing their satisfaction and pride with what has been achieved and urging them to continue, with unchanged commitment, in their pursuit of excellence, assuring Col. Gentilucci of the same passion, dedication, and determination that have so far distinguished the women and men of the SCCAM System.
The SCCAM Department, similar to the four SCCAM employees in Rome, Milan, Padua and Brindisi, is co-located at the adjacent ENAV S.p.A. Area Control Center (ACC), and provides support for aerial operations through control and coordination of the operational air traffic over the entire national airspace, the management of airspace at the pre-tactical and tactical level and the coordination of Air Defense activities in the context of General Air Traffic.
The RSCCAM is placed under the responsibility of Aerospace Control Brigade del Aerospace Operations Command in Poggio Renatico (FE).
