Demonstration of a new project presented during the competitive innovation marathon Airathon held on 5 and 6 June. The practical demonstration of the project took place on 30 January in Hangar M346 of the Experimental Flight Department. “EMS – Expert Maintenance Supervisor” from the “Tango” team presented during the competitive innovation marathon “Airathon” which took place on 5 and 6 June 2018. The demonstration, carried out via a remote connection, highlighted how, thanks to the Augmented Reality and Simulated Reality, the project can remotely support and supervise training, maintenance, and analysis concerning efficiency, innovation, and the reduction of costs and time in the logistics cycle. Furthermore, thanks to Blockchain integration, it can certify or validate maintenance interventions, reporting, and training activities. The project aims to implement training and maintenance processes through the introduction of augmented reality and new solutions in the digitalisation of procedures, traceability, and recording of operations performed. Following the project presentation“Augmented Maintenance 4.0.” winner of the “Airathon” marathon, continues the challenge towards the future, which began more than a year ago, and in which the Logistic Command was the protagonist of an initiative open innovation. Organised with contributions from companies such as Ernst & Young, Leonardo, Vitrociset and Microsoft, and also involving the participation of some Italian universities, the project was promoted by the Air Force. The project analysed the theme of Aviation logistics and, in particular, focused on staff training and the optimisation of logistical processes, through the implementation of new technologies. This type of event, together with theBlockchain Workshop which took place on January 23rd, sets the Armed Force on a course for a confrontation with Institutional, University, and industrial representatives from the aerospace sector on complex issues related to Logistics 4.0, pursuing that cultural and technological revolution that is already underway in the defence sector and which represents new vital energy for the Country System.
