Survival training at sea for the flight crews of the Experimental and Standardized Air Rifle Department and the 80th Combat SAR Center On Thursday 23 July the staff of the Air Firing Experimental and Standardisation Unit and of the’80th Combat SAR Center (CSAR), it trained in a free-water rescue and recovery exercise overlooking the Extraordinary detachment of the Poetto in Cagliari. Decimomannu Airport, home to the Experimental and Standardization Department of Air Rifle Shooting, is a training department that provides technical and logistical support to all military aviation flight departments, inter-branch and international, and interagency. The base, located in Sardinia about 20 km from the city of Cagliari, thanks to the favorable climatic conditions, the availability of large air space, as well as the presence of important logistical infrastructures, is considered an ideal place for air training. It is able to simultaneously accommodate numerous aerobatic aircraft, including transport and helicopters, with runways and parking areas suitable even for the largest fixed-wing aircraft. The R.S.S.T.A. also guarantees important services that benefit the local community as well: the meteorological observation service, the radar approach control of civil and military air traffic operating in the central-southern area of Sardinia, and the search and rescue provided by the 80th CSAR Center equipped with HH-212 helicopters.
