The military airport of Galatina was established as “Campo di Fortuna” on March 31, 1931. As early as ‘46, the base was used as a school. It was a flight unit but only since December 1, 1995 did it assume the name and organic configuration of Stormo, drawing its number “61” from the previous Air Brigade.
