Thursday 6 June the Training Manager of School of Specialists AM, Ten. Col. Umberto Ranieri was received by the Deputy Technical Director of the Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness, Gen. Isp. Capo Fabio Sciorella, for the handover of the “Certificate No. 14/2023 – Rev. 1 – Ed. Mar 2024”which extends the approval of the Maintenance Training Organisation even to the provision of Military extensive modules for aircraft maintenance personnel, avionics and air armament specialities in accordance with the procedures and technical requirements defined by norma AER(EP).P-147.

This further certification constitutes a particularly qualifying objective in the training process for aircraft maintenance personnel as it meets a fundamental requirement for access to subsequent specialisation courses on 4th and 5th generation aircraft, such as the HH-101 helicopter and the F-2000 and F35 aircraft.

It The certificate of approval was the final act of a long and complex reconfiguration of the Specialist School. which has had to revise all working and organisational processes, instructor selection and qualification processes, training offer (syllabus) development, and infrastructure reconfiguration.

Thanks to the support provided by the Command Schools/3rd Air Region and from the other senior commands of the Armed Force, the setup process has been completed “realistic maintenance environments” required by regulations (engine rooms, mechanical workshops, electrical/avionics and armament laboratories, including a hangar with aircraft of various types) for the practical training of Military Aircraft Maintenance Course Attendees, all in full compliance with the aforementioned standard and consistent with the Institute's “mission”.

In particular, the training path is characterised by a component of theoretical studies relating to technical/aeronautical subjects and an intense practical maintenance training programme. This programme is carried out using teaching aids and supporting equipment that are highly representative of the working reality that aircraft maintenance course attendees will encounter in the operational departments of the Air Force to which they will be assigned.

Following this further certification step, the The School of Specialists is now enabled to issue, at the end of an additional training course lasting approximately 2 months, the “Certificate of Recognition” confirming completion of Basic Training, including specifically military topics, Aircraft Maintenance Personnel of Avionics and Air Armament specialisms which will allow it to complete the next phase of On-the-Job Training and Type Training assigned to the operational departments.
