The Institute Flag presentation ceremony was presided over by General Rosso. At the end of the presentation, awards were conferred on AF Flags, Commands and Personnel L‘Guidonia Airport It was established in 1916 as the “Montecelio airfield” and home to one of our country's first flight schools. From 1923, it hosted the “Experimental Unit of the Royal Air Force” which, through its intense aeronautical development activity, contributed to achieving important results in the sector and setting records that remain unbeaten to this day, giving impetus to all-round experimentation in the aeronautical field and laying the foundations for future developments in the aerospace sector. After the Second World War, the airport returned to being a flight school, linking its name to many bodies responsible for training Italian Air Force personnel and still today, as the 60th Wing, it retains its primary role in flight instruction.
