Italian Air Force: urgent medical transport from Cagliari to Ciampino with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Wing
Uon board a 31st Wing aircraft of the Italian Air Force enabled the urgent transport of a newborn, just one day old, in imminent danger of death, to the Bambino Gesù Paediatric Hospital
The urgent medical transport of a one-day-old baby girl from Cagliari-Elmas airport to Rome-Ciampino has just concluded, carried out with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the Italian Air Force.
The child, in imminent danger of life, needed to be transferred, as quickly as possible, from the Duilio Casula Hospital of Monserrato (CA) to the’Hospital Bambino Gesù of Rome.
Emergency health transports, for the benefit of the community, are among the institutional tasks carried out by the Air Force. life jacket of the child, specifically, was activated, at the request of the Cagliari Prefecture, from the Top Situational Room of the Air Force which immediately involved the 31st Wing, one of the Units that carries out operational readiness service for this type of mission.
Following all the necessary procedures by the military crew, the aircraft took off from Ciampino Airport early this afternoon, landing at Cagliari-Elmas after about an hour's flight. Here, the young patient, accompanied by her father, was immediately embarked on the asset made available by the Armed Force for urgent transport.
After landing at Ciampino Airport, an ambulance from Bambino Gesù, already present at the scene awaiting the little one, immediately headed for the Roman paediatric hospital for subsequent admission.
The flight units of the Italian Air Force are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with means and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of death, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of operation by aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and by helicopters from the 15th Wing of Cervia.
