In the ever-growing digital age, cybersecurity plays a fundamentally important role. Tackling cyber threats requires specialised skills and knowledge, and it is precisely in this context that a group of eight attendees of the’Italian Air Force Academy of Pozzuoli he distinguished himself by participating in the Cyber Challenge organised by the National Interuniversity Consortium for Informatics at the campus United Nations (International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation) on the 29th and 30th of June.

The 2023 edition was the third consecutive one that institute attendees participated in, with the support of the CyberHackademy of the University Federico II of Naples.

It Tiny is an organisation that promotes the search and the’innovation in the field of IT, supporting the development of digital skills in the country. The Cyber Challenge, Italy's main initiative for Cyber security, annually involves over forty student teams from various universities, testing their skills in cybersecurity problem-solving.

The Air Force Academy of Pozzuoli, following the guidelines of the cyber domain, which is also recognised at an operational level by NATO, has already, for some years, included various subjects within the training process of participants in the Regular Courses that are functional to the development of IT skills.

Furthermore, through the creation of specific Training Units (in the drone, space, cyber, and emergency medicine fields) sought to encourage participation in extracurricular activities, such as Cyber Challenge visitOn-the-job training at Entities of interest, through which each Student, regardless of their Section affiliation, can explore topics of personal interest and for the Armed Forces, with a practical-applicative approach as much as possible.

As last year, the Academy Team achieved excellent results, thereby demonstrating the quality of the selection and initial training processes that the Armed Forces have in place to designate the future leadership class. Naturally, the hope is to make this training pathway increasingly structural, also considering modern geopolitical scenarios.
