Giovedì 14 settembre, l’Aeronautica Militare ha ospitato a Roma un workshop sul tema del System Wide Information Management (SWIM), evento organizzato dalla European Defence Agency (EDA) e al quale hanno preso parte esperti della Forza Armata, della stessa EDA, di EUROCONTROL, di SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM), dell’Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) e di ENAV il fornitore civile di servizi per la Navigazione Aerea.
Il workshop ha rappresentato una valida opportunità per approfondire la tematica SWIM e ricercare un continuo miglioramento nell’interoperabilità civile/militare per la fornitura dei servizi della navigazione aerea al traffico aereo generale.
Il concetto SWIM si inserisce nel quadro del programma tecnologico europeo Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) e dell’iniziativa Single European Sky (SES) lanciata nel 2004 dalla Commissione Europea per armonizzare la gestione dello spazio aereo all’interno dell’Unione Europea, per rafforzare la safety e l’efficienza del traffico aereo, ridurre i ritardi ed ottimizzare la capacità degli spazi aerei in Europa. Nello specifico, una volta implementato nel contesto del Common Project 1, SWIM consentirà una più efficace condivisione delle informazioni aeronautiche e meteorologiche tra tutti gli stakeholders interessati, tramite la loro digitalizzazione e diffusione secondo protocolli standardizzati ed interoperabili.
L’incontro tra esperti del settore dei Servizi della Navigazione Aerea delle Istituzioni nazionali ed europee ha inoltre inteso rinforzare le sinergie già in atto per l’ottimizzazione della rete europea a supporto del traffico aereo generale.
L’iniziativa, nel solco tracciato dalla consolidata cooperazione civile/militare confermata anche nel recente incontro dei vertici dell’AM e di ENAV, è stata utile per avviare approfondimenti su possibili ulteriori collaborazioni volte a migliorare la fornitura dei SNA a beneficio dell’intera collettività nazionale nell’interesse del sistema Paese.
Air navigation services: workshop on System Wide Information Management (SWIM)
On Thursday, September 14th, the Italian air force hosted a workshop to address System Wide Information Management (SWIM). The event, which took place in Rome, was organized by the European Defence Agency (EDA) and gathered experts from the Italian air force, EDA, EUROCONTROL, SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM), the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the Italian civil Air Navigation Service provider (ENAV).
During the workshop, participants addressed SWIM in depth and sought a continuous enhancement of interoperability between civil and military for the provision of air navigation services to the general air traffic.
SWIM implementation is directly linked to the European technological Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) programme and to the European Commission’s Single European Sky (SES) initiative, launched in 2004 to harmonize airspace management in the European Union, increasing air traffic safety and efficiency while also reducing delays and optimizing airspace capacity.
Once implemented, under the scope of Common Project 1, SWIM will, amongst other benefits, allow a more efficient exchange of aeronautical and weather information exchange among all affected stakeholders. The data exchange will be enabled by digitalization and standardized and interoperable standards.
This workshop among air navigation service experts from national and European institutions also allowed to further strengthen the existing synergies aiming at optimizing the European network, in support to general air traffic.
The initiative is in line with the consolidated civil/military cooperation in Italy, as confirmed by the recent meeting between ENAV and the Italian air force at executive level. With the aim of further enhancing air navigation services provision at national level, further collaboration has also been explored during the workshop.
